Job Details:

  • Position: IT Operations Assistant
  • Contract Type: Fixed-Term, G5
  • Duty Station: Maputo, Mozambique
  • Duration: 12 months (renewable)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Support:

    • Perform system diagnostics, monitoring, and optimizations.
    • Maintain IT equipment and ensure compliance with data security standards.
    • Install, operate, and maintain telecommunication systems.
  2. Data and Information Management:

    • Update and maintain statistical databases and web pages.
    • Archive and prepare files for inventory purposes.
  3. Training and User Support:

    • Provide standard training on IT systems and tools.
    • Respond to user queries and resolve technical issues.
  4. Asset Management:

    • Conduct annual asset counts and reconcile data.
    • Manage asset disposals and incident reporting.
  5. Administrative Tasks:

    • Handle procurement and follow-up on IT-related invoices.
    • Create purchase requisitions and manual purchase orders.
  6. Process Improvement:

    • Propose enhancements for IT service methods and procedures.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Completion of secondary education.
  • A post-secondary certificate in a related functional area.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in IT operations or related fields.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Portuguese (written and verbal).

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in solving complex technical issues.
  • Understanding of client service standards and problem escalation.
  • Ability to define functional requirements in collaboration with unit heads.
